A Wildlife Photographer in Africa has captured hearts online after sharing an endearing photo of his unusual "assistant" during a recent nature shoot: a playful lion cub. Djamel Hadj Aissa, an independent photojournalist and wildlife enthusiast based in Ghardaïa, Algeria, is known for his stunning wildlife photography. He shares his work with thousands of followers on Instagram, featuring Animals ranging from reptiles to birds to primates. However, it was a different kind of post that went viral in February—this time, it wasn’t about the wildlife he was photographing, but rather the adorable lion cub he brought along for the adventure.
According to The Epoch Times, Djamel comes from a prominent Algerian family that established the country's first private zoo, which has now expanded to six zoos across different cities. The lion cub he took with him on this particular shoot was born in one of these family-owned zoos, right in his own backyard."For her first time, she was very curious. She sat on my chair and carefully watched everything I was doing," Djamel shared with The Epoch Times. "My nephew Fayçal took the chance to capture this incredible moment of us sitting together, looking in the same direction. The public loved it." After posting the image on social media, Djamel received a flood of reactions, including some skeptical users who doubted the authenticity of the photo. To prove it was genuine, he followed up with a video showing him and his furry friend working side by side.Djamel's passion for photography started at the age of 15 when a family friend, a professional photographer, gifted him his first camera. He spent decades as a press photographer before focusing on wildlife in the mid-2010s, where he found a deep personal calling. Now, he dreams of expanding his career by working as a foreign correspondent for an international outlet to fund his continued passion for capturing the natural world.
