Xcel Energy, which has deployed multiple crews to address downed power poles and icy roads, aims to have power restored by Sunday evening. Residents are encouraged to check the Xcel Energy outage map for the latest updates. After a winter storm brought heavy snowfall to Colorado on Friday, thousands of residents are still in the dark, facing power outages that have extended over 24 hours. Some may need to wait until Sunday for full restoration.Englewood resident Andrew Pierce shared his experience, explaining that he went to bed on Friday expecting power to return by morning. When it didn’t, he faced an additional obstacle: his car was locked inside his building’s garage, which couldn’t be opened without power. “I had to call out from work today because I couldn’t get my car out. It’s definitely been very frustrating,” Pierce said.Other residents, like Rich Slivka, noted the challenging conditions inside the powerless building. “All the hallways are dark. Really dark,” said Slivka. He was grateful someone propped the front door open so that he and his wife could take their dog outside. Otherwise, reentry was impossible with the power down.Xcel Energy crews were out across Englewood on Saturday, working to clean up fallen power poles and navigate icy roads. Andrew Holden, Community Relations Director for Xcel Energy Colorado, said the heavy snow and slick conditions have made restoration efforts challenging. “Some roads around the Denver metro area have been hard to navigate, and snow accumulation is impacting access to our facilities,” he explained. With dozens of teams activated, Xcel expects power to be back on by Sunday night for all affected customers. Holden extended gratitude to the community for their patience and understanding as crews work to resolve the outages. For updates, residents can check the Xcel Energy outage map for estimated restoration times.
